Greg Holloway grew up in Northern Virginia in the 1960's, a time when US rare coins were quite inexpensive. He started collected at age 7 and soon began buying and selling coins with adults. At age 13, Greg turned professional beginning a storied career as one of the foremost experts in rare coins in the world. Before graduating from high school, Greg bought and resold many of the world's most famous rarities. 

Greg learned by age 15 the most important principle that would govern every decision that he would make from that point on; to only buy the best. Over the decades that he has been buying and selling coins, there has been one very dependable truth; buying the best will always reward the owner in the future. 

In 1987, Greg became one of the original graders and shareholders of Numismatic Guarantee Corporation (NGC) which is the World's largest third party certification service that both certifies the grade and authenticity of rare coins. Also in 1987, Greg became one of the original founders and shareholders of the American Numismatic Exchange, the World's first electronic rare coin trading system. 

The creation of third-party certification services and electronic trading of rare coins revolutionized the rare coin business changing it into a huge business today where billions of dollars trade hands each year.

In 1990, Greg set the world record for the first sale in history for any rare coin to bring over $1 million. Since this time, Greg has gone on to set the world record for the first English coin to bring over $1 million. 

Having grown up in the US, dealers there do business as if the rest of the world did not exist. Despite the fact that Greg started going to 50+ coin shows a year by age 15, it was very unusual for him to ever see a rare coin from somewhere else other than the US. The desire to learn about European rare coins meant that Greg would have to start hunting in Europe.

Greg has now travelled to more than 1,300 coin shows with many of them being in Europe. As his appreciation grew for European rare coins, he started travelling there more and more frequently, eventually ending up living in Europe part time. 

Believing that education is the most important part of being a rare coin owner, Greg has given hundreds of seminars and webinars on finance, asset protection, and the history of rare coins to a live audience. Greg is also an author having completed the first ever encyclopedia reference book of the world’s largest regularly made rare gold coin, the 5 Guineas and 5 Pounds.

It is a proven fact that the best out performs average. Therefore, Greg has just one criteria for purchasing rare coins for clients. If it isn’t great enough that he would want to own it himself, he doesn’t buy it. Greg’s unquenchable passion for the best is what drives his relentless pursuit for the ultimate finest known ultra rarities.
